Here’s more on the troop’s primary service project and fundraiser, troop committee, scout cabin, and troop benefactors.
Service Project and Fundraiser:
The troop, along with Pack 19, has adopted a recycling program as both a fund raiser and service commitment the Town of Middleton. Every two weeks, the scouts clean out the 'bottleshed', sorting bottles and cans, and redeeming them at a regional recycling depot. Part of the proceeds are allocated to the scouts who perform the recycling to use as funds for any scouting activity. They can also apply their earnings to the costs of weekend camping, summer camp, uniforms, even jackknives and camping gear. In 2015, the troop cleaned out the bottleshed moving over 23,000 pounds of "trash" into recycleable materials and earning over $6,000 dollars for their efforts.
Troop Chartered Organization, Troop Committee and Leadership:
American Legion Post 227, the Troop 19 Chartered Organization, owns the troop and receives a national charter each year to use the Scouting program as part of its youth work. The Chartered Organization provides selects and approves a Scoutmaster, appoints a troop committee and chooses a charter organization representative.
An active troop committee supports the scouting program by ensuring that quality adult leadership is recruited and trained. The committee advises the scoutmaster on policies relating to scouting and the chartered organization, is responsible for finances, adequate funds and disbursements, maintains and properly cares for troop property, ensures that the troop has a vital outdoor program and serves on boards of review and courts of honor.

Through the generosity of a number of benefactors, the structure has seen many improvements over the past 18 months.
